Don’t you wish you didn’t have to learn life’s lessons the hard way?
Beloved school teacher and guidance counselor, Ethel Pearson Levine, lived to age 101.

Over a period of 30 years, she wrote monthly articles for the Sunrise Lakes community in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Her articles embrace universal subjects from marriage and divorce to relationships, aging, and death. She took on subjects that affect us all. Within each article, there’s a message, an affirmation, for living a meaningful life. This book is a collection of selected articles from that monthly news magazine, edited by her grandson,
Gary Springer. Available at:

“I just finished reading the book. I loved it and found it so inspiring. Your grandmother and my 2nd grade teacher was one very special lady.
A ‘must read’ for all seniors.”
– Sherry Koslov, former student

Ethel Levine was a wonderful teacher. I loved her. She was very kind. I had a problem in 2nd grade. I became very nearsighted and couldn't see the board. She would let me come up to the front to copy my work. She tested my eyes and found out I needed glasses. It changed my life.”

Teams from companies in Houston show the impact of their wellness programs by training for and conquering a 3-course fitness challenge hosted by Fit Company.

HOUSTON, TEXAS, USA, September 29, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ — On September 16, 2017 participants from companies located in the Houston Texas area took part in the Fit Company Challenge, a corporate wellness event hosted by the Fit Company Institute. The challenge provided area companies an opportunity to come together as a team and spend a morning exercising, pushing their physical and mental limits and showing the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. Companies split their team into squads of 3 to 4 people who worked together to complete a variety of fitness stations to challenge their fitness level and earn points for their company. Teams chose what level to go through each course which allowed participants of all fitness levels to push their physical fitness without going too far out of their comfort zone.

For the 1st Fall Challenge in Houston PinnacleART took the top spot in the Large Division. From PinnacleART’s team captain Lindsay Carter, “The Fit Company Challenge was a physically and mentally demanding experience that highlighted new exercises that we as individuals can incorporate into our fit lifestyle. In our small teams, we were able to meet new people within the company and build camaraderie. Andy Warhol's famous image of Elizabeth Taylor will be part of Woodshed Art Auctions' online-only art sale, Oct. 4th

Mixed media painting on paper of Elizabeth Taylor, attributed to Andy Warhol.

Pen and brown ink drawing on laid paper by the Dutch master Vincent Van Gogh.

Gouache on paper attributed to Marc Chagall (1887-1985), titled Circus Acrobats.

Untitled abstract composition acrylic on canvas attributed to Mark Rothko (1903-1970).

Watercolor and ink drawing attributed to Pablo Picasso, titled Bullfight.

A mixed media painting on paper attributed to Andy Warhol (Am., 1928-1987) of Elizabeth Taylor will be one of 111 lots already online in the star-studded sale.

As the collection for this sale came together, I realized that some of our consignors are attracted to artists’ working studies.”

— Bruce Wood

FRANKLIN, MASS., UNITED STATES, September 29, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ — FRANKLIN, Mass. – Mixed media paintings on paper attributed to Andy Warhol (Am., 1928-1987) of Elizabeth Taylor, John Lennon, George Harrison and several other subjects are part of Woodshed Art Auctions’ online-only Prestige Signature Collection, a 111-lot sale that’s already available for viewing and bidding (at www.woodshedartauctions.com). The sale ends Oct. 4th.

The Taylor, Lennon and Harrison works (as well as one of Mount Vesuvius) all carry pre-sale estimates of $80,000-$100,000, although the one of Liz is probably expected to finish ahead of the others because it’s so iconic and closely associated with Warhol. All four are signed by the artist and come with certificates of authenticity from Bonnier Art Services in Toulouse, France.

The Prestige Signature Collection sale features paintings, drawings and studies by some of the most famous, influential painters of the Impressionist, post-Impressionist, Modern and Pop Art movements. In addition to Warhol, the list includes names such as Basquiat, Monet, Van Gogh, Picasso, Chagall, Modigliani, Rothko, Sam Francis, Joan Mitchell, Fernand Leger and others.

The list continues with names like Helen Frankenthaler, Antoni Tapies, Wilfredo Lam, Franz Kline, Egon Schiele, Chaim Soutine, Suzy Frelinghysen, Ralph Mazzucco and even R. Crumb and Dr. Seuss, among others. Also in the sale is a fine selection of autographs by political figures like Adolf Hitler, Richard Nixon, Dwight Eisenhower, George Patton and Douglas MacArthur.

The artwork, though, will command center stage. “As the collection for this sale came together, I realized that some of our consignors are attracted to artists’ working studies,” said Bruce Wood, owner of Woodshed Art Auctions. “These paintings and drawings show the thought processes and working methods of the artists, methods that are often disguised in their finished artworks.”

Mr. Wood observed that the Warhol paintings on paper “show experimentation with color and brushwork, while the drawings and gouache studies of Van Gogh and Matisse show the speed and abbreviated details used to capture the impression of a fleeting moment.” Other Warhols in the sale include one of actor Dennis Hopper and two shoe studies (Warhol had a thing for shoes).

Vincent Van Gogh (1853-1890) needs no introduction. A nice group of works attributed to the Dutch Master will come up for bid. The expected top earner is a pen and brown ink drawing on laid paper, signed “Vincent” and titled Landscape with Haystacks. It may have been an early sketch for an 1889 oil painting with a similar title and is expected to bring $80,000-$100,000.

Two other Van Gogh attributions carry identical estimates of $60,000-$80,000. One is a tempera and gouache on bond paper titled Portrait Study of Madame Trabuc, also signed “Vincent” and possibly a sketch for a similarly titled portrait done in 1889. The other is an unframed brown ink on paper drawing titled Road with Houses signed by Van Gogh and possibly a preliminary study.

Two giants in the fine art world, both with ties to America as well as the Russian Federation, are Mark Rothko (1903-1970) and Marc Chagall (1887-1985). Both these men, in fact, were born in Russia, and Chagall ended up living in France. The gouache on paper attributed to Chagall in the auction is titled Circus Acrobats and is artist signed lower right. It should hit $50,000-$70,000.

The acrylic on primed cotton canvas attributed to Mark Rothko, an untitled abstract composition signed verso, could very well be the top lot of the auction. The sizable painting – 54 ¼ inches by 30 ½ inches, framed – has been attached to a new stretcher, partially obscuring the signature. But there’s nothing obscure about the painting or any doubting it’s a Rothko (est. $80,000-$120,000).

Another candidate for top earner is an oil on canvas painting attributed to the French and Russian artist Chaim Soutine (1893-1943), titled Expressionist Landscape with Women, artist signed and framed and possibly painted in Ceret, in southern France, in the 1920s. The work was reportedly confiscated by the Russian Government in the 1960s and has an estimate of $80,000-$120,000.

The watercolor and ink drawing attributed to Pablo Picasso (Sp./Fr., 1881-1973), titled Bullfight, is signed “Picasso” and dated “3/3/67” (est. $40,000-$60,000). The 6 ¼ inch by 8 inch drawing was left to its previous owner from a longtime friend around 1995, who presumably acquired it from his friend, the art critic, art dealer and collector Douglas Cooper sometime prior to 1980.

Works attributed to the French-American artists Joan Mitchell (1925-1992) and Fernand Leger (1881-1955) will be offered. Mitchell’s signed and framed oil on canvas painting titled Abstract Composition, should finish at $60,000-$80,000; while the watercolor and ink on paper attributed to Leger, signed, with a verso stamp from a Paris gallery, has an estimate of $30,000-$40,000.

Paintings attributed to the noted female American artists Helen Frankenthaler (1928-2011) and Suzy Frelinghysen (1911-1988) both carry estimates of $40,000-$60,000 and both are abstract compositions. Frankenthaler’s is an oil on canvas work, signed and framed. Frelinghysen’s is a reverse-glass oil painting, signed verso and dated 1941, with Salander-O’Reilly Galleries (N.Y.).

Two other paintings also carry identical estimates, of $30,000-$40,000, and they’re from artists with international pedigree. One is an oil on canvas abstract composition attributed to Sam Francis (1923-1994), who lived and worked in the U.S., France and Japan. The mixed media work installed in a heavy wooden frame titled Vietnam Pastel I is signed by Raphael Mazzucco (b. 1970), who has spent time in New York, France, Italy and Holland. It is not an attribution.

It should be pointed out that many of the works in this auction – most of them, in fact – are listed as ‘attributed’ because they have a partial or missing provenance. Attributions and identifications are based in part on Woodshed Art Auctions’ careful study, but they are not guaranteed. Unless stated otherwise in the catalog description, no further provenance or information is available.

Woodshed Art Auctions is a family-owned art gallery specializing in oil painting restoration and live and online art auctions, celebrating its 50th anniversary. The firm is always accepting quality artworks for future auctions. Dallas Area Rapid Transit Partners with ELERTS to Launch DART Say Something

Mobile safety and security app improves public safety and uses crowdsourcing to support transit police

The DART Say Something app gives our riders a powerful tool to protect themselves and others, and enables riders to become an integral role in increased transit safety.”

— James D. Spiller, Chief of DART Police

WEYMOUTH, MA, USA, September 29, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ — Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) has partnered with ELERTS Corp, the leading provider of See Something Say Something mobile apps for transit agencies, to launch ‘DART Say Something,’ a mobile safety and security app that allows riders to quickly and discreetly report safety and security concerns directly to DART police. App users can submit incident reports with a photo, video, description of what is being reported, and the location of incident.

DART, servicing 67.2 million passenger trips in 2016, joins a growing a number of Transit agencies launching a transit-branded See Something Say Something app leveraging ELERTS technology. DART is embracing the growing trend of crowdsourcing to increase transit safety, reduce crime, and cut down on vandalism. The DART Say Something app enables transit police to have eyes and ears everywhere riders are, and therefore to gain situation awareness of active incidents observed by riders.
Features include:
• Under 20-second Incident Reporting – the app is designed to enable riders to submit reports quickly to police.
• Discreet Incident Reporting – to ensure discretion and safety for app users, the camera flash is automatically disabled when photos are taken through the app.
• Two-way communication – DART Police dispatchers may ask questions or provide instructions to the rider.
• BOLO Alerts – DART Police may broadcast BOLO's (Be On the Look Out) to ask riders to look for specific persons of interest such as criminal suspects or missing persons.

“The safety of our riders, employees and property is our top priority and we are always encouraging our riders to educate themselves about safety and security aboard transit vehicles. The DART Say Something app gives them a powerful tool to protect themselves and others, and enables riders to become an integral role in increased transit safety,” said James D. Spiller, Chief of DART Police. “In addition, the ability for my staff to receive immediate information as events unfold allows us to be more clearly informed and respond appropriately.”

DART has also enabled ELERTS Attention Engine technology, which can identify surveillance cameras nearby a reported incident – allowing dispatchers to immediately view what the cameras see. The result enables cameras to be used for real-time crime interception and enhanced situation awareness, versus simply storing video footage for after-the-incident forensic purposes.

“Transits like DART are taking great strides to increase not only the safety of their riders, but to arm their riders with a way to help alleviate crime before it happens,” said Ed English, ELERTS CEO. “ELERTS technology enables human-detection of a threat to provide authorities with real-time situation awareness and an immediate way to communicate with riders who report an incident.”

Layne Dalfen of The Dream Interpretation Center to be Featured on CUTV News Radio

Dreaming is just thinking. There’s always a reason for today’s dream. It’s not random.”

— Layne Dalfen

MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA, September 29, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ — To sleep, perchance to dream. Each night we dream all manner of strange, wondrous and frightening experiences. There is value in decoding and understanding our dreams. All it takes is learning what questions to ask.

Layne Dalfen is a dream analyst and the founder of The Dream Interpretation Center, where she helps clients understand the language of their subconscious.

“All dreams have meaning,” says Layne. “Dreaming is just thinking. There’s always a reason for today’s dream. It’s not random. The subconscious mind is brilliant and very sophisticated.”

Layne’s own interest in dreams stems from her early experience in Freudian analysis where dream work was the primary tool. As a dream analyst, Layne looks at dreams from a psychological perspective. The dreamer tells her the dream and she knows the right questions to ask. Ultimately, it’s the dreamers themselves who uncover what their dream is about.

“Dreaming is problem solving. Your subconscious mind prioritizes the thing that’s bugging you the most. The dream is you continuing the discussion you’ve been having with yourself throughout the day, but now while you’re asleep,” explains Layne.

“Dreams are you testing different solutions and reactions to a very specific current issue you’re attempting to reach a conclusion about. The solution to the problem presents itself in the dream. That’s the fun part: searching for the metaphors and how they present solutions.”

According to Layne, our subconscious is a database that holds every single memory and association we’ve had since we were born. That’s why, Layne says, she doesn’t subscribe to the idea that certain types of dreams mean the same thing to everyone. The associations our subconscious develops are as unique to each person as their fingerprint.

“If you are aware of the valuable and rich material in your dreams, you will be more likely to remember them,” says Layne.

“If you know how to decode your dreams, you can access that material, and in the process propel your problem solving skills.”

CUTV News Radio will feature Layne Dalfen in an interview with Doug Llewelyn on October 3rd at 1pm EDT.

Listen to the show on BlogTalkRadio.
