Our goal is to raise funds to help people have a real fighting chance against cancer”

— Christos Tsantilis

NEW YORK, NY, USA, March 17, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ — The American Cancer Society is benefitting from the launch of "Hot Girl Light Me Up," an inspirational new track from hip hop artist Zizzo. Recorded and produced with an all-star cast of performers and studio pros, a portion of the proceeds raised by the song will benefit the American Cancer Society and its mission of eliminating cancer.

The core of "Hot Girl Light Me Up" is an energized, fast-flowing performance by Zizzo. A New York City-based rapper, Zizzo is a Stage IV cancer survivor, meaning she was afflicted with advanced tumors that had metastatisized throughout her body. Her story inspired the prolific mixer Christos Tsantilis (https://www.mixbystos.com/) (P. Diddy, Mary J. Blige, Mobb Deep, Mos Def, Brandy, Big Pun, Queen Latifah, Patti LaBelle, Saigon) to apply music towards making a difference in the fight against cancer, a disease that is projected to cause 600,000+ deaths in the US in 2018.

"Zizzo had a positive attitude and wanted me to produce a record for her," Tsantilis says. "I decided that if we were going to work together on a single, that it would be great to give back to humanity by donating a portion of the proceeds to the American Cancer Society. Our goal is to raise funds to help people have a real fighting chance against cancer."

While mortality rates from cancer have been steadily falling from their peak in 1991, Tsantilis and Zizzo had no problem locating a roster of elite performers and studio pros whose lives had been impacted in some way by the disease. Contributors to "Light Me Up" include Caron Wheeler of the GRAMMY-winning group Soul II Soul; New Zealand-based hit songwriter Andrew Mockler, who has toured live singing with Sting; GRAMMY-nominated singer/songwriter and Wyclef Jean collaborator Katia Cadet; producer and multi-instrumentalist David Lloyd of Beyond the Beyond, which is led by the famed Ian Lloyd of Stories and singer of the #1 hit "Brother Louie"; veteran Motown drummer Jon Ihle (Chuck Berry, The Righteous Brothers, Bo Diddley); percussionist Chris Theberge of Groove Collective; and bassist Zev Katz (James Brown, Sheryl Crow, Bruno Mars).

On the audio side, contributors include tracking engineers Christian Pinto, Giovanni Rottier, and Yonatan Elkayam, along with assistant engineers Vincent Aldorasi and Brecken. Tsantilis mixed the track, while mastering was accomplished by the award-winning (LEON ZERVOS).

The catchy lyrics, deep groove and crisp beats of "Hot Girl Light Me Up" are amplified by an eye-catching animated video (LINK TO VIDEO WHEN AVAILABLE) that will encourage social sharing. Created by Nastee of 4word Productions and Christophe Mondot of Min Multimedia, with photography and editing by Ed Marshall, the lyric video for "Hot Girl Light Me Up" plays out like a 4:25 mini-movie, following alongside a stylish cartoonified Zizzo as she rockets through space and mows down malicious aliens.

Available now on all streaming platforms including iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, and more, Tsantilis and his team know that their efforts can assist in the ongoing fight against cancer.

"'Hot Girl Light Me Up' is an upbeat song with a positive message," comments Tsantilis, who lost his own father to lung cancer during the song's production. "We hope that people will enjoy it, share it via social media and buy the single. The more people that see this video, the more we can help the American Cancer Society to do their critically important work. One day, hopefully soon, humanity will be able to overcome this terrible disease and people will never again have to lose their lives and family members to it."

Andre De Grasse withdraws from Commonwealth Games

De Grasse after winning Silver at Rio Olympics 2016

The Elite Sprinter withdraws to prepare for Outdoor Season

As disappointed as I am about not being able to line up in Australia, I know this is the right decision.”

— Andre De Grasse

AUSTIN, TX, UNITED STATES, March 17, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ — Andre De Grasse has made the decision to withdraw from the Games in order to be better prepared for a full outdoor season. After a 2017 season that ended with a hamstring injury, De Grasse began training for the 2018 season cautiously. His 2017 injury is completely healed and he is 100% healthy, he’s just not where he wants to be yet from a fitness standpoint.

“To me the Commonwealth Games was going to be a great opportunity to display my talents to a passionate fan base in Australia. I wouldn’t want to go in there at any less than my best and for that reason we have made the difficult decision to withdraw from the Games. My team and I feel like this is the best decision for the long term. I will now train hard through the spring to be ready for a strong and full outdoor season.” said De Grasse.

De Grasse will start his outdoor season with a 100m race at the Drake Relays at the end of April, before turning his attention to the Diamond League meets and eventually the NACAC championships in his home town of Toronto.

“As disappointed as I am about not being able to line up in Australia, I know this is the right decision. I plan to be back on top of the World this outdoor season and these next 6 week’s of training are essential to set me up for success this summer.”

Voter Supression In Chandler Arizona Non Partisan Elections

2018 Chandler Mayor Election - Martin Sepulveda

2018 Chandler Mayor Election

Martin Sepulveda Demands More Inclusive Chandler Elections

CHANDLER, AZ, UNITED STATES, March 16, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ — Martin Sepulveda Demands More Inclusive Chandler Elections

Martin Sepulveda, the candidate for Chandler Mayor, made a beeline to the mic during Chandler City Council's March 8th public comment period.

Chandler's current city council — including Sepulveda's opponent — listened as Martin took the microphone.
"I'm here to speak regarding the disparity in Chandler's non-partisan election process."

Most Arizona votes are cast via mail by voters on the Permanent Early Voter List. Despite city races being non-partisan, only Republicans and Democrats are automatically sent mail-in ballots. independent and third party voters must request a mail-in ballot by contacting the Chandler City Clerk.

Sepulveda, a former councilman, Navy veteran and longtime Chandler resident went on to detail the way Chandler's election process fails to represent independent voters.

"In 2014, there were … over 54,000 registered voters that weren't registered as Republicans or Democrats in Chandler, but only 1200 of those voters actually took the extra step and requested a ballot to vote, a partisan ballot to vote in a non-partisan election. […] It makes sense to a lot of residents and certainly me that we have a council really involves and represents the entire community."

Sepulveda didn't hold back.
"This is a form of voter suppression"

Martin Sepulveda left no doubt. Voter participation is now an issue in this year's Chandler mayoral election. The question now is how voters and Sepulveda's opponent, Kevin Hartke will respond.

The Vincentians will also provide pantry supplies, bottled water, light medical checkups, spiritual and emotional care, and other forms of help as required. Condemn Donald J. Trump, Not Farrakhan!!!

Black leaders and organizations are aggressively responding to calls from the GOP

We cannot allow a politically hypocritical political situation to exist whereas an openly racist president Donald Trump is given a free pass and to spew racist venom.”

— Attorney Malik Zulu Shabazz

WHEN: Monday – March 19 – 10:00 am News
Conference 11 am -3pm Congressional Lobbying Campaign

WHERE: In front of Rayburn House Congressional Building on Capitol Hill
45 Independence Avenue SW – Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Black leaders and organizations are aggressively responding to calls from the GOP for Democrats and Congressional Black Caucus members to officially condemn, by a congressional resolution, Nation of Islam leader, Minister Louis Farrakhan, for alleged racist and anti-Semitic statements in his February 25, 2018, Convention speech.

Over 100 organizational leaders will go office-to-office to deal with the GOP representatives that are leading this campaign, in specific Congressman Todd Rokita. The lobbyist will visit members of the Congressional Black Caucus who are under pressure to condemn Minister Farrakhan though the Congressional Black Caucus has yet to muster enough strength to introduce a resolution condemning that he repeated, vile and foul bigoted and reckless comments by President Donald Trump. https://www.google.com/amp/www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/03/13/gop-resolution-condemning-anti-semitic-louis-farrakhan-puts-pressure-on-dems.amp.html

The Monday, May 19, 2018 congressional lobbying mission is spearheaded by Black Lawyers for Justice, the 10,000 Black Men's March organizers, National Action Network, the New Black Panther Party, Anacostia Citizens for Justice, Prince Georges County Peoples Coalition, Black Lives Matter and Black organizations from several states.

Black Lawyers for Justice National President Malik Zulu Shabazz says, "We cannot allow a politically hypocritical political situation to exist whereas an openly racist president, Donald Trump is given a free pass and to spew racist venom and racist policies by a confederate based GOP; and then they have the gall to issue an official legislative condemnation of a private citizen and Black leader who is dearly beloved by the masses." Mr. Shabazz has known Minister Louis Farrakhan for 30 years and has served on some of his key campaigns as an ally, supporter, and advisor.
The coalition will be lobbying key members of Congress-the GOP in particular-to condemn President Donald J. Trump and to leave Louis Farrakhan alone. Please do not try to stop us because we will not turn back. We will represent professionally and politically vigorously.

This lobbying day is a prequel to the upcoming Saturday, April 21 "10,000 Black Men's March Against Donald J. Trump.” The rally begins in SE Washington D.C. to the White House and the first major Black anti-Trump rally will take place. Dr. Cornel West will keynote the rally along with host Malik Zulu Shabazz, Esq. and Minister Hashim Nzinga leader of the New Black Panther Party and Black Lives Matter.

The National Black Men’s Convention and 10,000 Black Men’s March will take place in the nation’s capital from April 18-22 at the historic Shiloh Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. The 10,000 Black Men’s March Coalition is a nationwide coalition that is composed of 300 Black Organizations. –END-
