Thousands of Complaints Documenting Psychiatric Abuse in Florida Filed by Mental Health Watchdog

Baker Acting of Children

Over 32,000 children were sent for involuntary psychiatric examination in 2016

Citizens Commission on Human Rights of Florida

CCHR Florida is a non-profit mental health watchdog that exposes human rights violations and is dedicated to the protection of children.

The Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) of Florida has filed almost 5,000 complaints documenting psychiatric human right violations.

We are determined to ensure that Florida’s children are protected from the abusive use of the Baker Act and that parental rights are restored in this state.”

— Diane Stein, President CCHR Florida

CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, UNITED STATES, October 31, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ — CCHR Florida, a non-profit mental health watchdog that exposes human rights violations and is dedicated to the protection of children, has filed almost 5,000 complaints documenting psychiatric human rights violations as part of an ongoing effort to clean up the field of mental health.

As a mental health watchdog, CCHR receives daily complaints from Floridians who have been sent for involuntary psychiatric examination under the mental health law, known as the Baker Act, and on behalf of these victims of abuse, CCHR has filed thousands of complaints with the applicable state agencies as well as Florida lawmakers.

According to the Annual Baker Act report, 194,354 people were sent for involuntary psychiatric examinations during fiscal year 2015/2016 and 32,475 of them were children. This figure has more than doubled since 2001 and recent media reports are confirming the fact that specifically the number of children being Baker Acted is on the rise.

“In 2017 steps were taken by lawmakers to address the abusive use of the Baker Act when dealing with children but the problem is not solved and we are determined to ensure that Florida’s children are protected,” said Diane Stein, President CCHR Florida.

Since launching a campaign to end the Baker Acting of children without parental knowledge, CCHR Florida has educated 160,000 families on their rights in addition to expanding their Abuse Case Documentation area to ensure that each actionable case of human rights violations is fully documented and a complaint filed with the proper authorities.

Victims of psychiatric abuse, as well as their friends and family, are encouraged to call CCHR at 800-782-2878, to fill out an abuse case report form on the CCHR website or to come into the center at 109 N. Fort Harrison which is open seven days a week. The assistance provided by CCHR is free of charge. For more information please call 727-442-8820 or visit www.cchrflorida.org.

About CCHR:
Initially established by the Church of Scientology and renowned psychiatrist Dr. Thomas Szasz in 1969, CCHR’s mission is to eradicate abuses committed under the guise of mental health and enact patient and consumer protections. It was L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology, who brought the terror of psychiatric imprisonment to the notice of the world. In March 1969, he said, “Thousands and thousands are seized without process of law, every week, over the ‘free world’ tortured, castrated, killed. All in the name of ‘mental health.’”

H. Frances Reaves of Parent Your Parents to be Featured on CUTV News Radio

Parent Your Parents offers the professional and personal expertise to help you determine which elder care options are best for your family.”

— H. Frances Reaves

KEY BISCAYNE, FLORIDA, UNITED STATES, October 31, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ — Many of us have parents who sacrificed and worked diligently so their children could have a better life. We (the children) are then faced with the challenge of how to make their parents’ lives the best they can be as they age. This is where Parent Your Parents, a senior concierge services company, can be of tremendous help and support to face that very challenge.

Parent your Parents is a consulting firm, led by H. Frances Reaves and accompanied by a robust team of experts, that guides families through the myriad of elder care options in the United States. The company works on the non-medical side of senior care to advocate for seniors and teach adult children how to parent your parents.

“To parent your parent is undoubtedly challenging, both emotionally and logically. Parents are the people who raised you and it's difficult to change those roles. It’s a common occurrence for children to ignore what's going on and avoid the confrontation,” says Reaves. “That's where Parent Your Parents and its team of experts step in. We have the professional and personal expertise to help you determine which elder care options are best for your family.”

Frances was inspired to create Parent your Parents after navigating the process with her aging parents. She found that no one has the seniors’ best interest at heart and if given the chance, these companies and individuals will take advantage of seniors and their families. Parent Your Parents not only provides senior care counsel with love and tenderness, but the counsel comes from experts in key senior care areas to ensure your family not taken advantage of.

“One parent almost always gets ill before the other” Frances explains. “If one has Alzheimer’s or dementia the other parent will often hide it from the children. It is a difficult situation for both the parents and children, as it is hard to push forward in unison and you risk mutual resentment. The good news is Parent Your Parents assists families in having uncomfortable conversations to arrive at a solution that is best for all family members involved.”

Parent Your Parents wants those children struggling to find the appropriate elder care for their parents to know that there are numerous options and resources for seniors. Parent Your Parents insists it is their job to find money and resources for the elderly, allowing children to feel confident that their loved ones are being cared for in the best way possible.

CUTV News Radio will feature Frances Reaves in an interview with Jim Masters on November 2nd and November 9th at 3pm EDT.

Children’s Author Irene Dolnick to be Featured on CUTV News Radio

I felt compelled to create a series that would develop children's desire to read and learn at the same time.”

— Irene Dolnick

EL PASO, TEXAS, UNITED STATES, October 31, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ — There exists a perception that writing children’s books is easy because the words and stories are simple, but the truth is it’s actually much more difficult than even writing a novel. A children's author must take into consideration the development of the child they are writing for.

Irene Dolnick is the author of the Kurt, Gert, Jazmine and Bagel series of children’s books. A former teacher of reading and literacy, Irene found inspiration in her dogs to write her first book.

“I felt compelled to create a series that would develop children's desire to read and learn at the same time,” says Irene. “There is only one series about dogs with exciting adventures for a child who finds reading difficult. I wanted to give children a high-quality choice rather than having to read from a selection of hundreds of the same old books.”

Irene says 25-30% of students she sees have difficulties that impair their reading or writing. We still have not resolved the problem of student illiteracy. Irene’s books introduce different word families discussed in classrooms. She developed a strategy to group similar word families, segment-blend pronunciations and color code these words.

“The book can determine how much reading experience a student needs or lacks,” says Irene. “Which words children can read and should read to improve their reading helps me decide which words I should choose when I write.”

Irene’s second book in the series, Kurt, Gert, Jazmine, and Bagel and their Train Station Adventure was published in late 2015. The third book, Kurt, Gert, Jazmine, and Bagel: A Halloween Nightmare was published in September. And Irene is currently at work on a fourth book.

CUTV News Radio will feature Irene Dolnick in an interview with Jim Masters on November 2nd at 12pm EDT and and November 9th at 12pm EDT.

Aamie Benson of Evoke 3 to be Featured on CUTV News Radio

Evoke 3 is about calling your best self forward and living the life you truly desire.”

— Aamie Benson

SEATTLE, WASHINGTON, UNITED STATES, October 31, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ — Adventure is not just for the frequent fliers or the adrenaline junkies. Adventure is all around us, when you sign up for that art class you've always wanted to take, or take a hike, or join that business group you have wanted to be a part of. Adventure is for everybody. It asks you to step out of your comfort zone and do things you never thought you could do and amaze yourself in the process. Adventure illuminate’s life’s greatest gift: the undeniable potential of the human spirit.

Aamie Benson is a certified coach and the founder of Evoke 3, a coaching practice dedicated to Transformation, Passion and Life.

“Evoke means to call forth,” says Aamie. “Evoke 3 is about calling your best self forward and living the life you truly desire. Too often we get stuck in the boxes we've placed ourselves in. Adventure is about stepping out of our comfort zone to call forth who you truly are, and want to be. Nothing lights me up more than seeing someone stand in their greatness.”

Aamie has spent her career working in learning and development within large corporations and non-profit organizations. As a professional coach and trainer Aamie draws on 14 years of experience helping teams and individuals improve performance and capabilities.

“We all have aspects of ourselves that require healing,” says Aamie. “Transformation is shifting our limiting self-beliefs, and taking our power back. It’s about having the courage to look at the hard stuff, and be deliberate about our own growth. When we do this, we continually step toward the threshold of extraordinary.”

Aamie says “It’s being intentional. It’s making the choice to change, and learning tools that help you move forward in a productive, successful way. It’s not an easy task, but mindfully experiencing your personal adventure makes all the difference. When you do this, you set goals and take action from a place that is aligned with your values and who you are. It is from this place that we live more authentically and fully.

“Mostly people want to be seen and heard,” adds Aamie. “They want to make a change, and move forward with meaning and purpose. As a coach, I bridge the gap between where they are, and where they want to be. I see them for who they are, and not the things they've been through.”

“We all have our stories, and we all have the capacity to be brave, resilient, and the ability to take our life back,” says Aamie. “I believe in "leading from within". If you want to be that great coworker, teammate, leader, partner or friend — it starts with you. Discovering your own inner truth is the most powerful thing that you can achieve. It is then that you begin to change, and embrace the adventure of life.”

ALBANY, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES, October 31, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ — Even from a very early age, women can develop a distorted body image that can cause debilitating anxiety, depression and low self-worth. What if there was a wonderful tool so potent and effective it will dissolve all insecurities and make us feel confident and beautiful for a lifetime?

Meighan Esmond is a healing body coach and the founder of Inner Edge Movement. With 20 plus years of experience working in both the performing arts and the healing arts fields, Meighan offers a combination of varied forms of exercise with a process called Dissolving: a cutting-edge, healing art form that allows you to release negative emotion from your body within minutes.

“Dissolving is my take on exercise and eating that no one else has,” says Meighan. “A major reason people disconnect from their body is because of how negatively we view our bodies. With Dissolving, my clients can stop stress eating, have more energy, and feel safe being open and expressive out in the world."

Meighan’s battle with depression and low self-esteem followed her well into adulthood, and affected every area of her life. As a professional singer, she experienced intense performance anxiety that was devastating to her, both emotionally and professionally. When she was introduced to Gene Bausman, the founder and developer of The Art of Dissolving, it instantly resonated with her, inspiring her to create this life-altering program.

“The incredible results speak for themselves,” says Meighan. “Every one of my clients who tries this wonderful technique leaves my class feeling relief and wakes up the next day noticing a change in the way they relate to their bodies.

“If we can use this simple tool to feel deep love and awe for our body, why wouldn’t we do it?” says Meighan. “If you struggle with a body image that’s anything less than amazing, I can help you move out of the pain and find the magnificence within you.”
