"It Hurts So Bad Outside" for Lori Jean

Lori Jean lucked through one tragedy working at the World Trade Center in turn for another.

I turned around and you knocked me out. Thought 911 was the worst for me to worry about.”

— Lori Jean Finnila

PORTLAND, OREGON, UNITED STATES, August 31, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ — "I turned around and you knocked me out. Thought 911 was the worst for me to worry about. It hurts so bad outside. Hurts so bad outside."

Lori Jean Finnila lucked through one tragedy working at The World Trade Center in turn for another. Try to identify with the war inside a woman's body after it's been knocked out. Fools play Jesus with her religious beliefs at this time – the only person she had to count on. Her back still hurts in multiple places in addition to the hole in her head from injuries inflicted upon her.

Please, please, touch someone today.

She talked about her baby's hair, where her and her husband would live – but he never wanted their baby – this she never understood.

Release, "You Didn't Even Want Our Baby," will be out at major retail online stores as an EP. Injury, the fight emotionally, and the outcome show in this album. The song, "My Dirty Draws," already released showing the reflection of battling the woods as a female, will sideline the album. Look for the upcoming EP at iTunes, Shazam, Spotify and more as well once she can afford a Mac Mini to finish recording it. She will do Acapella and put the other three songs up at her blog titled Lori Jean Finnila at blogspot.

Jean has been recording and releasing since the worst of her injuries running from abuse for over twenty years from a stalker, when she couldn't write novels anymore. Find most of her music online and the warm welcome from the press and music community that has supported her.

Most of people drive with their belongings loose inside the car cabin

Fixeta – Isofix / Latch Connector

Fixeta – Detail

LUGGAGE AND ROAD SAFETY WORLD REPORT

• Fixeta presents LUGGAGE AND ROAD SAFETY WORLD REPORT
• First research about how drivers stow their luggage in their car trips shows perturbing results.

We want people travel safer, and running this kind of research let people be more aware they aren’t, take full responsibility of how they drive and improve it”

— Jesus Hernandez

MADRID, MADRID, SPAIN, August 31, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ — Fixeta has conducted a recent research about how drivers behave when driving for a trip with their friends and family. The investigation has been focused on how drivers around the world stow their belongings in their cars. The research has asked people from several countries and found a really worrisome outlook. In the own words of Fixeta’s Director, Jesus Hernandez: “Drivers are not concerned about the risks of having loose items inside the car in the event of an accident”.

Driving with luggage inside the car cabin without being secured is a huge risk for all people being in the car. In the event of an accident at 37 mph (60 kmh), every item which goes free in the car multiplies by 56 its weight causing lots of damages to those in the car. i.e. a carry-on of 22 lb. (10 kg) free in the back seats will impact to the driver’s body like as being a bull (1,100 lb. – 500 kg).

There are different attitudes towards this issue. From people who really don’t matter at all, to those who think about different options before going through a trip with their cabin full of items. Parenthood is usually a milestone in this behaviour… drivers’ pattern is more closely when the travel with their children aboard other than when they don’t, or they consider they are going to do it anymore.

84% of respondents say that they have travelled with items unsecured inside the car, and more than 55% told they consider that as a “common” way of driving. More detailed data on driver behaviour depending on age, country and distance travelled within the report.
People in age of parenthood are more conscious about danger in traveling with items inside the car cabin: people under 30 don’t consider it as dangerous, and above that age most of the drivers are aware about this unsafe conduct.

Other key points the study concludes are:
• 42.86% of those who usually travel with the car cabin full of baggage consider isn’t dangerous. (34% of the total population).
• If there is extra luggage, 40% of drivers will carry them unsecured inside the car cabin. Other methods such as using a roof case, carrying them in the foot wells or hiring a courier for delivering at destination aren’t commonly used.

Jesus Hernandez said “We want people travel safer, and running this kind of research let people be more aware they aren’t, take full responsibility of how they drive and improve it”.

About Fixeta
Fixeta is a new concept in carry-on suitcases. After several years of development, Fixeta is a carry-on with two ISOFIX (or LATCH) connectors in its wheels to fix it in the car anchorages to travel safer.
The idea comes from a personal experience of their founders. They were worried about traveling with the car plenty of luggage. They were aware about the consequences of having a car accident or just a sudden sharp break. Using their background in the baby-care industry, they patented and developed a carry-on mixing the ISOFIX / LATCH standard with a traditional carry-on bag.
Fixeta will be soon in the market. To be fully updated, please sign up here:

Parents: Do you know enough about your teen athlete's sports supplements?

Here are 13 dangerous supplement poisons parents and coaches should worry about

Teens… aren’t adequately warned about dangerous supplements and are putting something they don’t really understand into their bodies — and put their health, and even their lives, at serious risk.”

— Robert Tauler

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, USA, August 31, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ — It’s the start of high school football season and there’s no better time for parents to educate themselves to the dangers of sports supplements teenage athletes might be using as shortcuts to quickly add muscle, boost stamina, and get them more playing time on the field.

The serious health dangers of anabolic steroids are well known. Yet parents who wouldn’t consider letting their child play without a helmet are unaware of the harmful and illegal chemicals hidden inside modern sports supplements pushed by unscrupulous salesmen online and in supplement stores.

“Teens, and their parents, coaches and other adults in their lives, aren’t adequately warned about dangerous supplements and are putting something they don’t really understand into their bodies — and put their health, and even their lives, at serious risk,” said Los Angeles Attorney Robert Tauler, whose firm, Tauler Smith LLP, has successfully put dozens of supplement sellers out of business after taking them to court for selling steroids and other illegal performance enhancement drugs.

The worst are illegal designer steroids called prohormones, intended to chemically mask steroids, and a class of unapproved research drugs known as SARMS. The harmful side-effects of steroids are well known: Liver, kidney and heart failure; liver cancer; high blood pressure; strokes; acne; breast growth in males; impotence and shrunken testes; rage, severe mood swings and paranoia. Steroids also signal teenage bodies to stop growing.

Teenage athletes are also at risk of sudden cardiac arrest by taking re-workout supplements containing powerful stimulants.

Here are some of the most prevalent — and dangerous — substances to look out for in your teen's sports supplements.

PROHORMONES

Designer drugs, prohormones are created in laboratories with the sole purpose of masking illegal steroids. Think of them as Russian nesting dolls, with target steroids hidden within other steroids. They were banned in 2014 by the U.S. Congress under the Designer Anabolic Steroid Control Act.

For example, 1-DHEA was developed specifically to evade federal controlled substances laws by chemically camouflaging the anabolic steroid, 1-Testosterone, inside another banned substance, 1-Androstenediol. A person’s liver first breaks the 1-DHEA down into 1-Androstenediol, which, when metabolized, releases a flood of 1-Testosterone into the bloodstream.

1-DHEA is considered more dangerous than pure 1-Testosterone, because the metabolizing process takes a much larger toll on the liver. Because users also tend to take more 1-DHEA, and for longer periods, in order to achieve the desired results, organ damage is often greatly amplified.

Watch out for: DHEA and 1-DHEA; DMZ (Dimethazine); Methasterone (also known as Superdrol, synthesized by 1950s cancer tumor researchers and never approved for use); Methylstenbolone (Methylsten); Trenovar (masks Trenbolone, a drug that helps cattle gain weight); Halodrol (or CDMA), created by a known steroid producer.

SARMS (Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators)

These synthetic steroids are medical research drugs not approved for human consumption. Some are undergoing clinical trial for possible use in cancer treatment; others were yanked from studies due to their high toxicity.

Watch out for: Ostarine (or Enobosarm) which is still undergoing the rigorous clinical trial process for potential use in fighting some breast cancers; Andarine, investigated for possible use in people with osteoporosis or with enlarged, non-cancerous prostates; LGD-3303 and Ligandrol, also investigated for osteoporosis; and Cardarine, which was being investigated for use in cardiovascular disease but stopped due to sudden and rapid development of cancer in the study animals’ internal organs.

AMPHETAMINE ISOMERS

Pre-workout supplements are popular among teen athletes trying to push themselves to superior performance in the gym or on the practice field, which translates into more playing time during games.

The health risks of amphetamine isomers – chemical kin of amphetamines — include high blood pressure, excessive heart rate (tachycardia), strokes and cardiac arrest. The danger multiplies in supplements that add caffeine and caffeine-like ingredients such as guarana and taurine, commonly seen in energy drinks. The presence of laboratory-made amphetamines is often cloaked on ingredient lists by botanical names, to mislead consumers to believe the stimulant comes from a natural herb or root.

One of the most popular ingredients, DMAA (dimethylamylamine) — often incorrectly referred to as Geranium extract or Pelargonium graveolens extract — was developed by Eli Lily and Co. in the 1940s as a nasal decongestant. The pharmaceutical company withdrew DMAA from the market in 1983. The substance has led to the deaths of athletes and soldiers. It is also banned by all major sports governing bodies. Usain Bolt in January was among those stripped of an Olympic gold medal when the International Olympic Committee disqualified Jamaica’s 2008 4×10 relay team after teammate Nesta Carter’s stored blood tested positive for DMAA.

Look out for: The Texas shrub Acacia rigidula, which in reality is a man-made stimulant known as B-methylphenylethylamine (BMPEA). It has never been tested for safety in human use, and the only “clinical” test on record involved 10 men studied on behalf of the Florida company that makes and supplies the chemical to dietary supplement companies.

Rare and vintage baseball cards, some in complete sets, in Small Traditions' online-only auction ending Sept. 9

Low-grade (PSA 1.5) Topps #311 Mickey Mantle card from 1952.

1995 Columbus Clippers yearbook perforated Derek Jeter rookie card.

1954 Topps Hank Aaron rookie card, graded well at SGC 70.

Rare 1974 George Brett Kansas City Royals postcard rookie card.

1948 Leaf Hal Newhouser rookie card, in outstanding condition.

Eight sets of completely graded baseball cards dating from 1948 to 1954 from the collection of David “Doc” Serota is the headliner in Small Traditions' auction.

This is a great opportunity for other collectors to pick up and carry on Doc’s work, to keep building and enjoying these early and wonderful sets.”

— Dave Thorn

DENVER, COLORADO, UNITED STATES, August 31, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ — DENVER, Colo. – Eight sets of completely graded baseball cards dating from 1948 to 1954 from the collection of David “Doc” Serota – including a near-complete set of 1948 Leaf cards, missing just two players, a complete set of 1951 Bowman cards and a complete set of 1952 Topps cards – are headliners in a Small Traditions online-only auction that ends Saturday night, September 9th.

The sets, meticulously pieced together by Serota one card at a time over a 25-year period, are lots #1-8 in what is being billed as Small Traditions’ 5th annual Summer Premium Auction. The auction is open for bidding now, on the Small Traditions website, at www.smalltraditions.com. The 15-minute rule will be observed September 9th. Phone and absentee bids will also be taken.

In addition to the Doc Serota collection, the more than 2,000-lot auction will also include highly sought after Derek Jeter, Mike Trout and Aaron Judge rookie cards, as well as many high-grade (PSA 9 and PSA 10 Pop 1) regional and “oddball” issues, from stars like Mickey Mantle, Hank Aaron, Roberto Clemente, Sandy Koufax, Pete Rose, Nolan Ryan, George Brett and others.

The Serota sets boast a combined grade point average of close to 7.5 and, although a few of the more valuable cards (like the ’52 Topps Mickey Mantle and the ’48 Leaf Jackie Robinson) are lower grade, the majority of the cards (nearly 1,000 in all) are graded PSA 8 NM-MT or better, with another 500 graded PSA 7 NM and approximately 300 more cards graded PSA 6 EX-MT.

“While Doc was never able or willing to pay five or six figures for some of the most expensive cards from these sets, he spent over two decades traveling around the country to amass a fine collection of mostly near-mint examples of all the other cards,” said Dave Thorn, owner of Small Traditions, based in Denver. “Doc’s sets contain nearly 1,000 cards graded NM-MT 8 or better.”

Another 500 cards are graded NM 7. Collectors will agree, these are impressive grades for cards from the 1940s and ‘50s, so many of which still rank among the finest few dozen graded copies on record in the hobby. “So,” Thorn remarked, “this is a great opportunity for other collectors to pick up and carry on Doc’s work, to keep building and enjoying these early and wonderful sets.”

The near-complete set of 1948 Leaf cards is only short two players – #43 Eddie Stevens and #81 George Kurowski. However, it does contain presentable, well-centered, mid-grade rookie cards for Jackie Robinson, Stan Musial and Larry Doby, as well as quite possibly the most attractive Hal Newhouser rookie card in existence. At press time, bidding for the set had reached $15,000.

The complete 1951 Bowman set is anchored by two of baseball’s most beloved players: Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays. Other high-profile players include Ted Williams, Whitey Ford and Roy Campanella. But even cards for lesser-known players like Virgil Stallcup, Joe Page and Ted Beard, have brought thousands at auction (when graded PSA 9). That’s how popular the set is.

The legendary, completely graded upper-grade set of Topps 1952 cards has a respectable grade point average of 6.66 and includes all 97 of the ultra-rare, high-number cards, hundreds of cases of which Topps tragically dumped into the ocean after they were returned by retailers, unsold, after arriving too late in stores. The set includes a low-grade, PSA 1.5 #311 Mickey Mantle card.

The Mantle card could end up being sold as a single lot and not part of the set. In fact, that’s true of all the cards in the Serota sets, which Small Traditions is offering both in complete set form as well as in single card lots. Each set will sell via whichever format produces the highest price for Serota – whether it’s the final bid for the set as a whole or an aggregate total of each single card.

In addition to the near-complete set of 1948 Leaf cards, the complete set of 1951 Bowman cards and the complete set of 1952 Topps cards, other sets in the Serota collection up for bid include:

• 1948 Bowman (7.67 grade point average, minimum bid $3,000)
• 1952 Bowman (7.90 grade point average, minimum bid $7,500)
• 1953 Bowman (7.16 grade point average, minimum bid $10,000)
• 1953 Topps (6.48 grade point average, minimum bid $5,000)
• 1954 Topps (7.90 grade point average, minimum bid $7,500)

Small Traditions has earned a reputation for offering in its auctions unusual or “oddball” items, featuring well-known players but not on cards produced by the common companies like Topps, Fleer and Bowman. They’re cards that might have been distributed regionally, by hot dog or meat packing companies, dry cleaners, soft drink companies, potato chip makers and the like.

Cards like these are important to collectors trying to complete so-called “master sets” of various players. When complete, these “master sets” contain one each of every single documented card ever produced for a particular player. “In my opinion, this is one of the strongest driving forces behind the increasing popularity, exponentially, in the expanding card market,” Mr. Thorn said.

Examples of these “oddball” cards in the auction include the hobby’s finest known George Brett 1974 Kansas City Royals postcard rookie card, one of just three known and graded PSA 10 Gem Mint; and a 1995 Columbus Clippers yearbook perforated Derek Jeter rookie card, the only copy ever graded (signed or signed) and certified Mint 9 by PSA/DNA. Minimum bid: $250 for both.

A near-perfect 1959 Oklahoma Today Major Leaguers card for Mickey Mantle, the highest graded example known at PSA 9 Mint Pop 8, has a minimum bid of $1,000 (already up to $4,000 at press time); and a 1966 East Hills Pirates #21 Roberto Clemente card, also highly graded at PSA 10 Gem Mint Pop 2, has a reasonable minimum bid of $500, but is already close to $750.

Mike Trout cards are enormously popular with collectors, and why not? He’s only the best player in baseball. Two cards in the auction with $500 minimum bids (both already surpassed) are a 2011 Topps certified rookie autographs card with green refractors (s/n 086/199); and a 2009 Bowman Sterling Prospects autograph rookie card. Both of the cards are graded BGS 10 Pristine.

A rare and diminutive 1970 Transogram side panel Pete Rose card, graded PSA 9 Mint Pop 1 (the highest graded example of the three on record) carries a minimum bid of $250; while a 1975 SSPC Superstars #10 Nolan Ryan card (PSA 10 Gem Mint Pop 1) carries a $250 minimum bid.

Small Traditions is always seeking quality cards for future auctions. To inquire about consigning a single card or an entire collection, you may call them at (908) 347-1121; or, you can e-mail them at info@smalltraditions.com. For more information, please visit www.smalltraditions.com.

Friends of Oakland Animal Services Receives $40,000 Grant from PetSmart Charities to Fund "Cat Condos"

City’s Newest Development Will Keep Homeless Cats Purring While Awaiting Adoption

This generous grant means that Oakland Animal Services will be able to provide top notch housing for our city’s cats while they are passing through our shelter on their way to their new families.”

— Oakland Animal Services Director Rebecca Katz

OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA, USA, August 31, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ — OAKLAND–The Bay Area real estate market may be notoriously harsh, but housing prospects are looking up for Oakland’s homeless cats, thanks to a $40,000 grant to Friends of Oakland Animal Services from PetSmart Charities, the leading funder of animal welfare in North America. The grant will provide for the renovation of cat kennels in the shelter’s holding area, creating more modern, less stressful living spaces that will ultimately improve the felines’ chances of finding their forever homes.

Why are the shelter’s new cat condo plans getting major meows of approval? In 2016, Oakland Animal Services took in more than five cats every day–a total of 1,899 for the year–and 10 to 12 at a time are housed in the holding area now awaiting renovation. The improved design of the new condos will help reduce the spread of illness, give cats room to stretch, move around, and enjoy high perches, and reduce the anxiety associated with shelter noise. What’s more, by allowing shy or noise-sensitive cats to be made available for adoption from these more private quarters, more cats will be saved who would otherwise not be adoptable from the shelter.

“This generous grant means that Oakland Animal Services will be able to provide top notch housing for our city’s cats while they are passing through our shelter on their way to their new families,” says Oakland Animal Services Director Rebecca Katz. “We’re thrilled that PetSmart Charities shares our commitment to ‘cat-friendly housing.’”

”Oakland Animal Services has long been committed to helping homeless pets in the Bay Area, and with plans to build new ‘cat condos,’ they are making an effort to provide cats in need with the comfort they deserve as they search for their forever home,” said Jenny Aho, regional relationship manager at PetSmart Charities. “Pets in need deserve a great home, even as they are waiting for the right family.”

Shelter Operations is just one of PetSmart Charities’ ten grant categories designed to support animal welfare organizations and nonprofits as part of their newly expanded mission to find lifelong loving homes for all pets by supporting programs that bring people and pets together. Funding from PetSmart Charities supports best practices that help pets thrive in a shelter environment until they find their forever family and offers funding for shelter-based programs that improve adoptions, reduce pets’ length of stay and strengthen shelter infrastructure.

Oakland Animal Services is Oakland’s only “open admissions” shelter, accepting all of Oakland’s homeless, injured, orphaned, unwanted, lost, abandoned and mistreated animals. With the assistance of dedicated volunteers and the support of nonprofit Friends of Oakland Animal Services, OAS saves the lives of thousands of animals every year. ELEVEN-YEAR-OLD SUPERFAN ANNOUNCES HARRY MOON'S GOOD MISCHIEF CONTEST

Caiden Caiden Riecks Announces the Good Mischief Contest

The Harry Moon Good MIschief Kit

There is nothing more powerful or important than the embracing love of a local community, whether small town or city, in raising a child. Let the Good Mischief begin!”

— Mark Andrew Poe

PAXTON, ILLINOIS, USA, August 31, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ — Eleven-year-old Harry Moon superfan, Caiden Riecks, announced the first international “Good Mischief Contest” from his home town of Paxton, Illinois. “My mom and dad taught me to be kind to others,” said Caiden. “People should be nicer to each other and get along. Maybe its time for kids to lead the way. Good Mischief as an act of kindness that surprises. Hopefully, people will follow our example and love one another instead of being so angry.”

Last year, Caiden wrote to the acclaimed middle-school series asking about new Harry Moon books. That call began a year-long friendship with Chicago publisher , Rabbit Publishers. Caiden now creatively advises on the series. “Caiden has tremendous heart and character,” said Thom Black of Rabbit Publishers. “He has agreed to lead the country’s one hundred contest winners into an adventure of Good Mischief .”

In a just released YouTube video, Caiden said that one hundred winners will be chosen from submissions from youngsters of their purposed “Good Mischief Feat.” Written submissions will be judged on originality, surprise, and the kindness the act engenders.

Good Mischief winners receive a “Harry Moon Good Mischief Kit” which will include a Harry Moon Costume, complete with a red cape, a Good Mischief wand, a “Do No Evil” T-shirt, and a copy of Harry Moon’s latest book – Wand Paper Scissors Origin.

The hundred winners will enter round two in late September where they will video and upload their Good Mischief Feat. Worldwide online voting for the best Good Mischief Feat will begin as soon as videos are uploaded.
On Halloween Night in Paxton, Illinois, Caiden, will live-stream the announcement of the top boy and girl vote-getters from the steps of the local Paxton-Buckley-Loda Junior High School.

Champions and parents will be flown to Baltimore, Maryland where they will be given a personal tour of the legendary Geppi Entertainment Museum which celebrates and exhibits memorabilia of the all-time great heroes including Batman and Superman.

Anyone can enter if they are between the ages of eight and twelve years old. Simply go to the Harry Moon website and click on the Good Mischief Contest Page.

“We are thrilled that Caiden and the community of Paxton are helping to launch the Good Mischief Contest,” said Mark Andrew Poe, author of the Harry Moon and Honey Moon series. “There is nothing more powerful or important than the embracing love of a local community, whether small town or city, in raising a child. Let the Good Mischief begin!"
